A lot of blogs out there act the same as news sources, simply giving you all the information you need on certain topics. In the last year or so I've gone to the DU hockey blog, LetsGoDU, run by alumni and students. Instead of going to all different news sources to get the information after games each week, I visit their site and they compile all the statistics, game recaps and videos.
I think that blogs that have all the information are interesting to compare the different ways the same events are covered. It's great to see what each outlet does with the same information. Whether it's a blog post, a video, an actual article or a feature it shows all the different facets.
I also think when blogs create the news, they are more personalized and many people have put their feelings into what they write rather than the everyday ordinary newspaper
ReplyDeleteI think that blogs can report news but also be news. There are many times when movements, or attention has been brought to an issue because of a blog.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think all sort of issues can be brought up with blogs and I love how blogs can tailor their content to specific things which allows people to follow only what they want to see.
ReplyDeleteBlogs can give you almost a more realistic interpretation of what really happened. I didn't know there was a DU hockey blog, but that is really cool, because I am sure it is participated by people who are avid followers of the team and big fans, but this also may cause bias in the news stories because they are for DU, yet that is why this is made anyways.
