I am not an avid blogger or youtube watcher, so this is all a bit new to me. My friend sent me this video from Australia, and I thought it would be a fun one to begin with.
The JK Wedding Entrance dance video is an example of the youtube culture. I am sure most of you have seen video because it exploded once it was uploaded. The video exemplifies convergence & collective culture. Julie and Kevin's wedding entrance became the talk of youtube and already has 25,041,507 views and 106,365 comments. The couple recorded their walk down the isle in the not so traditional way while dancing a choreographed dance to "Dance Forever." Soon after the video was posted, they became an Internet sensation.
I find it really amusing that with the amount of "youtubers" out there now-a-days we see all of these reenactments of music videos and then new ideas of videos for the newer music put out there and so on and so forth. These videos made me laugh out loud literally and to see this type of joy that was brought to me in these videos I hope is shared throughout the community, which I think it has been
ReplyDeleteIts really interesting to see how someones original idea can be used in different ways, and how things can travel, from one culture or community to another, especially when somethings as interesting, cute or clever as dancing down the aisle.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they ever thought that their video would be so popular and reenacted so many times. The face that someone can post a video on a website like YouTube and become so instantaneously popular blows my mind. As a consumer/viewer, I would like to know what exactly it is that creates such a craze for a particular video. All of these viewers obviously clicked on this particular video for some reason, and I wonder if there is a specific appeal that is shared by the majority of the views that attracted them to the video. How is popularity on the internet created?
ReplyDeleteI find this hilarious and they are my new inspirations. I can't believe I have never seen this before. However, as for the reenactments- they are a little pathetic. Actually, all reenactments of any video are a little pathetic. Yes they could be viewed as flattering but I really just find them a waste of time. Don't mean to be so pessimistic, but I mean....come on!
