Music and videos aren't the only illegal files shared over the internet. People are also downloading thousands of dollars worth of software everyday. When I think of software being pirated, I immediately think of the company Adobe. Since we are this class, we are all somehow connected to Digital Media Studies. And that means, that a lot of us need Adobe software to work on assignments for certain classes (unless you want to go to the computer lab every time). So, I looked into getting Adobe are realized just how much each program is, but after some discussion with classmates, I found out there's ways around paying for the software.
This article really points out how many people illegally download Adobe software off the internet. It showed that 60% of Photoshop users pirated the software! This is definitely an issue Adobe should be concerned about. I mean the price for Adobe Photoshop is $700! So we're not talking about stealing a song you can buy for 99 cents, but rather stealing software that cost a lot of money. I know the entire Adobe packages are accesesable and those cost around $2400. This is serious money we are talking about...

I cant believe that that many people have a pirated version of Adobe software. But do you think that because its pirated so often, that why its soo expensive to buy? to get the money out of the people willing to buy it?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mic, I believe a few years ago the program was not as much as it is now, so maybe that is why they have raised the prices, but I think instead of having the program so expensive if they lower the prices more people would buy the program instead of finding ways to pirate it.
ReplyDeleteI think that someone is going to pirate Adobe is going to pirate it no matter how much it is. For instance with a student discount we can get Adobe's Design Standard package for about $300 but students still pirate it all the time.

Though Abode probably understands that people are going to pirate and that is why they are so expensive, but also companies and corporations cant get away with pirating adobe to be legit and those big corporation is probably where they make most of there money anyways
