Youth Cannot Live Without Internet

I was on BBC news, and came upon an article about the Youth and web use written just a week ago. The news story was about a survey taken from an online charity, Youthnet. The results showed that 75% of 16 to 24 years feel they cannot live without the net. It shows the dependence of the Internet to our generation and all of its usage. The article is pretty self-explanatory, so I will let you all just read it :)

  1. I feel like this SHOULD come as a surprise to be but it does not. Often I find myself getting on the web for no reason. It's definitely nice to leave technology occasionally, more people should do this more often.

  2. I bet most of the poeple that think they cannot live without technology(including myself), really would be fine, given the chance. There is a part of technology that has partially taken place of my ability to remember things, but I'm pretty sure I could make due.

  3. The funny thing is that we do have the choice to drop our cell phones for a day, or not log onto facebook, but I know myself and I would feel somewhat naked without having a cell phone with me, or out of the loop with friends on Facebook.

  4. Wow, 75 percent is a lot, but I think it should maybe be more. I can't say how many times a day I use the Internet for more than just social networking sites or e-mail - I use it for classes and for jobs and other work-related things. I don't think our society could ever handle having to backtrack and live without the Internet.

  5. I agree with Arianna. Although I do waste time on FB and youtube, but it is also a large part of how I get a lot of work done as well. It's a double edged sword. From personal experience, student organizations often communicate and even plan over email, and use online organizational services like Doodle to schedule meeting times that best fits everyone.
