This book called "The Daily Show and Philosophy" answers many of these questions throughout the novel. This book analyses and discusses some of the big questions in politics that are talked and joked about in the show. It discusses just how fake the show really is and the show's views on religion. I think people should know the rationale behind the jokes on these shows. They "joke" about some pretty serious issues that really might not be a laughing matter beyond the TV show.
I hope I can get my hands on a copy of this book.
You should watch this Bill Moyers interview with Jon Stewart where he talks about his show in the context of journalism. It's great.
ReplyDeleteI really like The Daily Show because I dont think I would be as interested in politics or world news if it wasnt presented in an amusing manner as it is on the show, and I think thats true for many people. Whether joking about serious things is good or bad, well I think getting people involved in the news, which counts for something.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly a masterful combination of journalism and humor that both Stewart and Colbert perform on their show. They are basically doing a comedy show, but are still able to have credibility with the topics they cover.
